They quick to go pop

Hey look at me I posted again!

After having to endure listening to the newest Black Eyed Peas abomination every 15 minutes this weekend (out of my control unfortunatley), I decided to check back with their earlier stuff which I remember I had liked.

I listened to Joints & Jams, pretty good stuff.  Then I checked out Head Bobs and found the lyrics to be be quite scathing.

from the lyrics to Head Bobs:

Nowadays brothers are getting paid doing nothing
Reciting the same line with the lame rhymes
frontin rappers actin like their pops’ was Orville Redenbacher
They quick to go pop
But when it’s time to fiend for the green they flop
We do it from the heart like blood
create rhymes that flood, and blow up like the Scud, Miss-ILE!
Miss out (Ha)

I’m with Will.I.Am on this one.  He has prothetic vision.  I think that if, when you look back, you basically called your future self out in a song it might be an indicator you are a sell out.

I don’t mean to turn this blog into a safari journal, detailing all the cracked out people I run into downtown, but…

The other day I had a guy begging for change so that he could check his email….  his email.  Not for food, or booze or coffee or smokes….his email.  To be fair I guess it wasn’t technically begging since he did offer to clean the inside of my car or any other “work” I had in exchange for s small donation so he could check his email.

Played around with my KP3 last night…

Progess?  Maybe gained a little understanding of it now.

Monday is the start of a whole new week of smoking the rock

I was greeted on my way into the office today by a bike riding crackhead belting out “we are the champions” at the top of her lungs.  She even gave me an enthusiastic fist pump in the air as she passed.  I thought being a crack addict was all confused wandering, scratching sores and begging for change for more rock, I didn’t know it had it’s triumphant rock anthem moments.  The more you know…..

good to know

Looks like Canada will be one of the best places to live if climate change continues on as is.  That’s reassuring.

Real Canadian Values

There is a furious outcry coming from the right in Canada about the appointment of Henry Morgentaler to the Order of Canada.  I was listening to CBC this morning and heard a rep from REAL Women Canada (press release) who was arguing that this was the death blow to the credibility of the Order because it “has become a political tool to promote the left-wing agenda”.  This is the same Order that has admitted prominent conservatives like local boy Preston Manning and Brian Mulroney.

I think the appointment of Morgentaler says a lot of good things about Canada and that a man who actually put his life on the line and fought hard for the rights of Canadians should be honoured.  The REAL Women of Canada argue that the Order only promotes the values of the “left” but I would argue that Morgentaler’s appointment reflects the majority of Canadians and their values.  They should check out this poll from Leger Marketing and maybe get out and talk to real Canadians.  Seems to me that a belief in Human rights is a Canadian value.

Update: Looks like there is some more evidence that a majority of Canadians support Morgentaler’s Order of Canada appointment.

From the article:

“The survey, conducted exclusively for Canwest News Service and Global National, showed 65 per cent of Canadians favour awarding the high honour to the Toronto abortion doctor, while 35 per cent are against it.”

Two-thirds support is very solid,” John Wright, senior vice president of the polling firm Ipsos Reid, which surveyed 1,023 adults from July 4-7. “You’re not going to do much better than that.”

“Despite Prime Minister Harper’s personal dissatisfaction with this decision . . . it appears that he is in the minority,” a news release on the poll said.”

“published” pictures

One of my pictures is going to be included in a Schmap guide to Cardiff.  This is the second time someone has used one of my pictures that they found on Flickr, the other one was a picture from Tofino that was used in an online travel article.  You don’t get paid for this sort of thing, but you do get credit and I guess some validation that not all the pictures you take are crappy.

mankind really is this stupid

I saw this commercial tonight for Dixie Paper Plates the synopsis of which is “we’re a bunch of perfect white ladies who are able to spend more quality time with our families because we use paper plates and can just throw them away when we’re done eating our shitty over processed food”.

I thought for a second that this might be some sort of parody, but sadly I was wrong, it is for real. In this day and age you think people might have started to realize that we can’t afford to be so monumentally wasteful and polluting, not to mention fucking lazy. wow.

I googled it so see if I could find it… Check it out here (thanks to martistanley.wordpress.com)

The best part of the commercial, one of the woman looks humourlessly at the camera and declares “My children come first, bottom line”.  I guess that’s why she is raping the planet as quickly and unaplegetically as she can.

Hell's Most Wanted

Saw this on Digg…. What’s your score?

Why single out pot smokers? Does that mean crack addicts and meth freaks are free and clear? What if someone is into the “sport” of figure skating? Are they going to hell too? Also, including lesbians is redundant when you already have homosexuals up there. It seems like religious zealots just don’t put as much thought into these signs as they used to.
